Anni was the first woman to become a Red Drum leader and I might add, it was her original asking that set it all in motion and took the Red Drum out into the world that started it all in the first place!
For the past year and a bit Anni had been teaching Red drum workshops to large groups of woman all over the USA.
Given her unique perspective I wanted to ask her a few questions about how it has been for her to add this piece to the groups of women she works with.
Anni, as a leader and Wise woman in your community, what does your Red Drum mean to you personally?
Anni: My Red Drum is a sacred tool that is truly the heartbeat of my personal medicine and magick. I see her as an extension of my divine will to weave and shape all that is to manifest in my ceremonies. I see her as a good friend, willing to be of service, to cleanse, to sing, to call forth and to open up connection to my spirit allies. My red drum can be timid and soothing or wild and witchy and honestly she has as many sides to her as I have to me. We are in cinque with one another, and have a deep understanding of the other. She is part of my song and my dance on this sacred earth.
How has adding the creation of Red Drums to your work as a leader of woman's groups added to/changed things for the women who come to you?
Anni: As drumming in ancient times to now, seeks to transform our realities from the physical to the spiritual plane, the journey to creating a drum is equally auspicious and truly impacts each woman differently. There is magick in this ceremony and that is not to be underestimated as these drums awaken a spark inside the women, that once ignited, cannot be dimmed.
The Red Drum calls forth in generosity, all those who seek to sing her song and hear her heartbeat and the women who create a Red Drums at the Sacred Goddess Live Retreats go through deep transformation before and after creating their drums. This piece of the retreat is the heart and soul of what we do at the Sacred Goddess live retreat and the women LOVE it!
What advice would you give someone who wanted to offer this workshop to their group?
Anni: Becoming a Red Drum Carrier is a Sacred Honour and an invitation to live in right relationship with the mother herself. She calls forth every woman in divine timing, when she is ready and ripe for her magick to enter each of their lives.
I would say that there are many important steps to take before each women is gifted a hide to create the red drum and step into the ceremony of creation with her. Each leader will determine that journey for the women, but at my retreats, they go through about 1.5 days of prep time in ceremony, cleansing, honoring and bowing in reverence before being gifted their hide.
When they are gifted the hide in ceremony, they are ready to receive, in perfect love and perfect trust, and by the time they name and blow life into their drums, they themselves have been transformed to a higher version of themselves.
